Who are you following!

1. There is a need for worship in our lives. As men we must take our rightful place before the Lord and worship Him. We have waited too long for someone else to take us before the Lord when we can take ourselves. Not even Jesus can take us before the Lord God if we will not worship Him. PS. 150:

Praise the LORD! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty expanse.
2 Praise Him for His mighty deeds; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness.
3 Praise Him with trumpet sound; Praise Him with harp and lyre.
4 Praise Him with timbrel and dancing; Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe.
5 Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with resounding cymbals.
6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!

We have been commanded to praise the Lord, when we don’t we are sinning before God. As men we must do everything within the power given us to care for our families and homes. If we don’t build a relationship with God and fortify that relationship with praise we are allowing the walls to be penetrated with ungodly things. This is just one step to getting closer to God. No mentor can build this relationship, this is something we must do for ourselves.

2. Prayer is the food that builds the spirit. Prayer brings the spirit in you closer to the Spirit of God. God formed man and blew into him the spirit of life. In other words He (God) placed a small piece of Himself in you. There by placing Himself on earth to watch over it. However, we need to be refreshed daily with His spirit to keep the piece in us strong. Remember in Geneses God walked daily in the garden with Adam before the fall. Well God still desires to walk with us daily. It is one reason He created us, to commune with Him. It is now our responsibility to talk with God daily. In talking with Him we get a better understanding of what we are to do. It brings a better understanding of our purpose. We can read the bible but the best understanding comes when God tells us what it means. Listen to this; Exodus 33: 11 So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle. 12 Then Moses said to the Lord, "See, You say to me, 'Bring up this people.' But You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, 'I know you by name, and you have also found grace in My sight.'
13 Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people."

3. Every man that desire to be a Godly man must read the word of God. Think about it, when you watch your favorite show on TV, football or soap. Why do you watch it? If it is a soap it because you want to know what’s going to happen next. If it is football you want to know who is going to win. In the both settings you want to know the outcome. Well in the bible we get to find out what happens next and who wins. We also get to see what part we get to play. The big difference here is you get to play your roll in real life. The bible, God’s word tells what the rules are and gives you your part in this venture. Why play if you don’t know the rules. The devil has wanted to keep you blind all your life but God wants you to see the road you are on. He wants you to be on the road with Him. He want make you play by His rules but then who’s rules are you playing by if not His? Exodus 33: 14 And He said, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest."
15 Then he said to Him, "If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. 16 For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth." 17 So the Lord said to Moses, "I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name."

4. Walking with a mentor should bring the best and the worst out of us. The worst has kept us blind to everything Godly because we walked by the flesh. The flesh love to do what it wants to do. It doesn’t like to play by the rules. It likes to win and be on top. It doesn’t think about the cost because it doesn’t care about cost. In the mind of the flesh, what can you do to me? We see this in our own minds; hopefully we fight that type of thinking. If we haven’t learned to fight it, now is a good time to start. To walk with a mentor you are asking for help to correct your life and shoot for the greater things God as for you. In the Kingdom of God you as a man must reach for things that God has created for your hands, not the things of your brother. A man that has not been shown how to walk as a man will forever walk as a boy or should I say a state of under development. Never reaching the height he could have attained. Yet, God even in the times of Moses found it within Himself to give mankind a chance to see Him. Exodus 33: 23 Then I will take away My hand, and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen." Exodus 34: 1 And the Lord said to Moses, "Cut two tablets of stone like the first ones, and I will write on these tablets the words that were on the first tablets which you broke.
2 So be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself to Me there on the top of the mountain.
3 And no man shall come up with you, and let no man be seen throughout all the mountain; let neither flocks nor herds feed before that mountain."
4 So he cut two tablets of stone like the first ones. Then Moses rose early in the morning and went up Mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him; and he took in his hand the two tablets of stone.
5 Now the Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord.
6 And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, "The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth,

5. We should never think we have it all together. God is the only one that knows all and can do all. God is not a man even though we say He is the man, He is not. He is God and that alone should stand for something. Even if you are not sure if He is your God. He wants to be your God and that’s why His son became the lamb. You know the lamb that was brought forth on your behalf, slain for your sins and died on your behalf. That you might have everlasting life with the Father, our creator. This is a time for you to get your life together by following the Son of God to a place that will carry you through the rough times and the bad times. To a time of everlasting to everlasting in God. Step up to the plate and become the man that God has called you to be.

  1. Its amazing to me as I read your revelation on mentoring I think about the importance and significance that mentor-ship plays as I look at my life and the life of others. There is something about the willingness and the ability to walk with someone and to give a person the authority to mold us as men. For a lot of us like me, it almost has to be a conscience effort to give another man that kind of power over you because even though we want help and need it, men have a problem with submission when it does not involve money. Sometimes our pride gets in the way even when money is involved.
As I write this comment Im thinking about people that I know that have accomplished certain levels of success in their life. For most of them their success is in some form or fashion connected to a mentor or apprenticeship. On the other hand many of those who have had mediocrity in the places they sought for the extraordinary lacked mentor-ship in the right places.
I believe its a principle that works for the good and the bad. If your mentored by skilled criminals you become a "better" criminal. That's a reason that many call prison Criminal University. Many criminals go in with a grade school level mind for criminal activity, once they get connected and plugged in, they leave with higher knowledge on how to the beat the law enforcement system. Its the same with preachers. I have seen many preachers that have a gift for connecting with people and communicating the Word of God but never crossed over the hump of the mediocre to the extraordinary. I have also witnessed others who I didn't believe were on the same level talent wise but have crossed over into the Exceeding and Abundant. Most of the time when I look at the difference between the two, its connection and the lack of connection to a person or people that have the ability to counsel a life and the decisions made in it. And so it goes with businessmen, musicians, and other trades, skills and talents. They become better when they allow people who have been there cultivate the gifts out of potential to the manifested purpose that God put in them from the beginning.
Many become greater and do more than the mentor. I believe that's the desire of God for his Kingdom, to do greater and be greater than that of our past. Jesus declared to his disciples that they would do greater things.
So with saying all of this, I am convinced that I also need mentor-ship in my life as well. I have put it off so much and so long because I am reluctant to trust. But I also know that my potential is hidden in what I do not know and has not been revealed or realized. So if I am going to get their It will be with counsel.
